promote the welfare of our learners and to maintain a professional attitude of \u201cit could happen here\u201d where safeguarding is concerned. Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy is committed to safeguarding learners and promoting children\u2019s welfare and expects all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe environment. Everyone has a responsibility to act without delay to protect learners by reporting anything that might suggest a child (or adult) is being abused or neglected. It is our willingness to work safely and challenge inappropriate behaviours that underpins this commitment, ensuring our approach is child-centered. Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy seeks to work in partnership with families and other agencies to improve the outcomes for children who are vulnerable or in need.<\/p><p data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2538\">All staff are encouraged to report any concerns that they have and not see these as insignificant. On occasions, a referral is justified by a single incident such as an injury or disclosure of abuse. More often however, concerns accumulate over a period of time and are evidenced by building up a picture of harm over time; this is particularly true in cases of emotional abuse and neglect. In these circumstances, it is crucial that staff record and pass on concerns in accordance with this policy to allow the Designated Safeguarding Lead to build up a picture and access support for the child at the earliest opportunity.<\/p><p data-start=\"2540\" data-end=\"2975\">We maintain a professional attitude of \u201cit could happen here\u201d where safeguarding is concerned. When there are concerns about the welfare of a learner, staff members will always act in the best interests of the learner. This policy has been developed in-conjunction with our culture of prevention, protection and support and will be linked with all our policies e.g. anti-bullying, online safety, health and safety, anti-radicalisation.<\/p><p data-start=\"2977\" data-end=\"3330\">We will continue to maintain an ethos where learners feel secure, are encouraged to talk, are listened to and feel safe. Learners at Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy are encouraged to talk freely with any staff member, if they are worried or concerned about something. This includes any learners we are responsible for under subcontracting arrangements.<\/p><p data-start=\"3332\" data-end=\"3575\">Additional online and e-safety guidance can also be found in the ICT Acceptable Use policy that is updated on an annual basis and shared with staff and learners via the relevant padlet, it is also available on the company CRM system for staff.<\/p><p data-start=\"3577\" data-end=\"3768\">Sub-contractors undergo annual due diligence to ensure they have the necessary policies in place and contractually are obliged to meet all the necessary requirements including staff training.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38f070a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"38f070a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Introduction<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c8b0522 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c8b0522\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"3793\" data-end=\"4230\">The aim of this policy is to clarify Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy role in the safeguarding and protection of children and young people and adults at risk and to promote their welfare. The purpose is to bring about better outcomes for all learners by facilitating open communication channels and clear accountability in interagency working arrangements. By implementing the policy it will help all learners achieve the below outcomes:<\/p><p data-start=\"4232\" data-end=\"5460\">\u2022 Are committed \u2013 developing a robust culture of vigilance<br data-start=\"4290\" data-end=\"4293\" \/>\u2022 Build resilience \u2013 raising awareness of safeguarding and child protection issues, and equipping children &amp; young people (and adults) with the language and skills to keep themselves safe. An effective safeguarding curriculum is ran alongside the apprenticeship standards to ensure learners are fully aware of key safeguarding concerns and how to gain support if required<br data-start=\"4664\" data-end=\"4667\" \/>\u2022 Establish a safe environment \u2013 in which children &amp; young people (and adults) can work and learn and develop within an ethos of openness and are taught to treat each other with respect, to feel safe, to have a voice and are listened to<br data-start=\"4903\" data-end=\"4906\" \/>\u2022 Support vulnerable learners \u2013 supporting learners who have been abused, have witnessed violence towards others or may be vulnerable to abuse<br data-start=\"5048\" data-end=\"5051\" \/>\u2022 Prevent unsuitable people \u2013 from working with children &amp; young people by ensuring we practice safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with our children. And to maintain an active vigilance thereafter<br data-start=\"5289\" data-end=\"5292\" \/>\u2022 Make a positive contribution \u2013 know and understand how to ensure those around our learners and in their care are safeguarded and how to report if there are concerns<\/p><p data-start=\"5462\" data-end=\"5990\">This policy applies to the entire Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy caseload including all young people aged 13-18 and vulnerable adults, who form part of our statutory responsibilities, specifically those young people who have a physical, sensory or learning disability. Throughout this document the generic phrase learners will be used where possible. Where the phrase \u201cChild\u201d or \u201cChild Protection Procedure\u201d applies these will also apply to Adults at risk. We recognise that any learner could potentially be a victim of abuse.<\/p><p data-start=\"5992\" data-end=\"6131\">The aim is to follow the procedures set out by, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 by:<\/p><p data-start=\"6133\" data-end=\"7554\">\u2022 Knowing that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners is everyone\u2019s responsibility, and the voice of the learner is evident<br data-start=\"6268\" data-end=\"6271\" \/>\u2022 Protecting our learners from maltreatment<br data-start=\"6314\" data-end=\"6317\" \/>\u2022 Establishing a safe environment in which our learners can learn and develop within an ethos of openness<br data-start=\"6422\" data-end=\"6425\" \/>\u2022 Preventing impairment of our learner\u2019s health or development<br data-start=\"6487\" data-end=\"6490\" \/>\u2022 Ensuring young people at Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy grow up in circumstances consistent with the provisions of safe and effective care<br data-start=\"6632\" data-end=\"6635\" \/>\u2022 Learners experience a balanced curriculum including PHSE, healthy relationship education, online and digital safety<br data-start=\"6752\" data-end=\"6755\" \/>\u2022 Offering learners a balanced curriculum through online activities, enabling learners to know how to keep themselves safe, whilst understanding the risks<br data-start=\"6909\" data-end=\"6912\" \/>\u2022 Understanding that no single professional can have the full picture of a learner\u2019s needs and circumstances. The DSL has the status and authority within Logistica Training &amp; Consultancy to carry out the duties of the post including committing resources and, where appropriate, supporting and directing other staff.<\/p><p>The DSL and Deputy DSL\u2019s will have undertaken the relevant Safeguarding and Prevent training and will update this training every 2 years. The DSL and Deputy DSL\u2019s have also completed the Safer Recruitment Training.<\/p><p>All staff must understand their role in identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action. Physical harm may also be caused when a parent or carer fabricates the symptoms of, or deliberately induces, illness in a child.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c0767a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6c0767a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Emotional Abuse<\/strong><\/p><p>Emotional abuse is the persistent emotional maltreatment of a child such as to cause severe and persistent adverse effects on the child\u2019s emotional development. It may involve conveying to children that they are worthless or unloved, inadequate, or valued only insofar as they meet the needs of another person. It may involve not giving the child opportunities to express their views, deliberately silencing them or making fun of how they communicate. It may feature age or developmentally inappropriate expectations being imposed on children. These may include interactions that are beyond the child\u2019s developmental capability, as well as overprotection and limitation of exploration and learning, or preventing the child participating in normal social interaction. It may involve seeing or hearing the ill-treatment of another. It may involve serious bullying (including cyberbullying), causing children frequently to feel frightened or in danger, or the exploitation or corruption of children. Some level of emotional abuse is involved in all types of maltreatment of a child, although it may occur alone.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2bdab0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c2bdab0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Sexual Abuse<\/strong><\/p><p>Sexual abuse involves forcing or enticing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities, not necessarily involving a high level of violence, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening. The activities may involve physical contact, including assault by penetration (for example rape or oral sex) or non-penetrative acts such as masturbation, kissing, rubbing and touching outside of clothing. They may also include non-contact activities, such as involving children in looking at, or in the production of, sexual images, watching sexual activities, encouraging children to behave in sexually inappropriate ways, or grooming a child in preparation for abuse (including via the internet). Sexual abuse is not solely perpetrated by adult males. Neglect may occur during pregnancy as a result of maternal substance misuse. Once a child is born, neglect may involve a parent or carer failing to provide adequate food, clothing and shelter (including exclusion from home or abandonment); failing to protect a child from physical and emotional harm or danger; failing to ensure adequate supervision (including the use of inadequate caretakers); or failing to ensure access to appropriate medical care or treatment.
